Gillian McKeith has revealed the painful reason behind the braids she's been wearing for I'm A Celebrity.... South Africa.The 63 year old nutritionist is back on our screens, 13 years on from her original – and quite legendary – stint on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! On the all-stars version of the show, which has been pre-recorded, she's been sporting some braids in her hair, which are quite reminiscent of the hairstyle worn by Katie Price, aka Jordan, when she was on the show in 2004.
But it's not all about the looks, as Gillian revealed that the hair is down to a lesson learned from her last stint in the jungle. She told MailOnline: "I was bitten by a tick back in 2010. I have quite thick hair and it burrowed under my hair at the neck, so I thought I'm not doing that again.
"The tick bite was very painful. It stuck its pincer into my neck under the hair. It was like being sliced with a razor sharp knife." She credited the show's resident medic Bob McCarron for removing the bug, and took every precaution to ensure history didn't repeat itself in South Africa.
She said "thank goodness for Bob" before saying that she didn't want to risk being attacked by another tic – hence her hair being in plaits. The former You Are What You Eat presenter also discussed her infamous fainting episode when she appeared on the show in 2010. She didn't rule it out that it might happen again, as she said that she has suffered from fainting since childhood.
Gillian explained that the collapse happened due to the fact that she "hadn’t had much to eat and I wasn’t feeling very well". She also said that it had once happened to her during a wedding, just after the bride and groom said "I do". Leeches were an issue for her on her
