McKinley Franklin editor Dick Biondi, an acclaimed Chicago radio personality and Radio Hall of Fame member who was the first American DJ to play the Beatles on air, died June 26. He was 90. The Chicago Tribune confirmed his death per an announcement released by WLS-AM 890. Biondi is one of the earliest personalities to play classic rock music on American radio, commonly referred to as the “King of the Oldies.” He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1998.  “He spent most of his 67 year career entertaining the greatest radio audience in the greatest city in the world, Chicago! Heard on WLS, WCFL, WMAQ, WBBM and WJMK, his Radio and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voice will remain as part of the soundtrack of our lives,” read the Facebook statement posted by WLS-AM 890.

Ken Bruce, the popular Scottish broadcaster, has revealed that the BBC turned down the opportunity to jointly trademark his iconic PopMaster music radio quiz, prompting him to acquire the rights himself. Having hosted the segment on BBC Radio 2 for over two decades, Bruce recently made the move to Bauer's Greatest Hits Radio, taking the format along with him.

The 52 year old host made the joke as she chatted to her DJ ex - real name Norman Cook - on her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show about all things Glastonbury on Friday morning. Zoe and Norman were married in 1999 and had two children together - Woody, 22, and 13 year old Nelly - but divorced in 2016, saying they had come to ‘the end of their rainbow’ after ‘many exciting adventures together’.

Today, Outfest announced the Opening and Closing Night gala film selections for the 41st edition of the Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival, taking place from July 13 – 23 in Los Angeles, presented by Warner Bros. Discovery and Genesis Motor America. The festival will open with Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, directed by Aitch Alberto, and the 11-day event will close with Chasing Chasing Amy, directed by Sav Rodgers. The Opening Night Gala will screen at the Orpheum Theatre, with the Closing Night Gala screening at The Montalbán Theatre.
