The show was first reported to be in development at the streaming giant back in November 2021. Netflix has given the show a 10 episode order. Ryan Murphy’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” topped Netflix’s English TV Top 10 list for the third week in a row, with 205.33 million hours viewed for the week of Oct. 3-9. That means the limited series is now Netflix’s second most popular English-language series of all time in its initial release, with 701.37 million hours watched, behind only “Stranger Things 4,” which was watched 1.35 billion hours in its first 28 days. “Dahmer” has now garnered more watch-time than seasons 1 and 2 of Shonda Rhimes’ “Bridgerton” in their first four weeks on the service.

The “Midnight Mass” and “Haunting of Hill House” mastermind packed 21 separate instances of the classic horror trope into the premiere of his latest Netflix series, “The Midnight Club,” a tally so high it actually breaks the Guinness World Record for “most scripted jump scares in a single television episode.” A Guinness World Record official presented Flanagan and Co. their certificate for the achievement during the “Midnight Club’s” New York Comic Con panel Thursday night, which included a preview of the premiere episode ahead of the show’s Friday launch.

In its second week on the Netflix Top 10 chart, the series has become Netflix’s ninth most popular English-language TV show of all time. Netflix measures overall popularity by counting hours viewed in a title’s first 28 days on the streamer. After 12 days alone, “Monster” has been viewed for 496 million hours — and it still has 16 more days to climb even higher on the chart. According to Netflix’s figures, at least 56 million households have consumed all 10 episodes (approximately 8.8 hours total) of the limited series thus far. The Evan Peters-led series also leads the English TV chart for the second consecutive week, earning 299.84 million hours viewed. The accomplishment makes it the second most watched English-language series in a week behind “Stranger Things 4.”
