Top DJ George Bowie is to star at a music event to raise money for a cancer-fighting four-year-old who’s heading to America for a life-saving vaccine.
The Clyde 1 star is set to play at an event next month to raise funds for Calum Rae, who was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma.
His parents Victoria MacDonald and Andrew Rae plan to take their son to the US for a vaccine trial they hope will stop the aggressive cancer from returning.
Earlier this month, Calum’s fundraiser smashed its £250,000 target, paving the way for him to travel to New York for the medicine, which helps train the immune system to identify and destroy neuroblastoma cells.
George, 55, host of GBX and the breakfast show on Clyde 1, said: “I think it’s amazing what everyone has been doing to help Calum’s campaign and the amount of hard work and effort that’s gone into raising money. I’m delighted to be able to help out.”
The event, which is being organised by Calum’s aunt Gemma Subryan, will include a two-hour set by George. Teacher Gemma, 42, said: “The event is going to be a big party night at the amazing Engine Rooms in Glasgow with pub prices at the bars, candy carts with nibbles and a photobooth.”
Victoria, 33, from Troon, Ayrshire, added: “We are so grateful to the amazing DJs who are donating their time. It’s set to be an amazing night.”

Christopher Vourlias Three decades ago, just a few years after the fall of the Berlin Wall ushered in a new era of hope and promise in Europe, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland made the historical drama “Europa, Europa,” which follows the harrowing ordeal of a Jewish teenager who goes to impossible lengths to survive the Holocaust. The title, says Holland, was meant to express “the duality of the European tradition: Europe of our aspirations, the cradle of culture and civilization, the rule of law and democracy, human rights, equality and fraternity, but on the other hand, Europe as the cradle of the worst crimes against humanity, selfishness and hatred.” Throughout her career, the three-time Academy Award nominee has found inspiration in “the great and tragic subjects of the 20th century,” powered by the conviction that “history is relevant, that what happened is relevant,” Holland tells Variety.
