She may be known for being the ultimate diva, but Gemma Collins has switched Harrods for healthy living, she tells in an exclusive interview this week. “I’ve gone from Gucci bags and living my best life down Bond Street to not giving a s**t - my health is my wealth now,” says Gemma as she talks us through her new lifestyle overhaul. The former TOWIE star, 43, is on a health kick and has transformed her eating habits using a high-fibre diet, Fibre First.
And when we sit down to chat about her weight loss - she has shed a stone in just a matter of weeks - she explains there is a deeper reason for wanting to drop weight. Gemma, who is engaged to businessman Rami Hawash, 49, has been incredibly candid about her desire to become a mother and struggles with PCOS [polycystic ovaries syndrome] making this difficult. She’s been on a fertility journey in recent months and now she admits that putting her health first goes hand in hand with her dreams of motherhood.
“I don’t want to be an overweight mum,” she says. “Nothing against overweight mums at all, but I want to run and play with my kid. I want to have as much energy for my child as possible and to be the best version of myself for my child.” Having suffered three heartbreaking miscarriages in the past and struggling to fall pregnant, Gemma’s PCOS has made things more difficult.
“I always find with me nothing has ever come easy,” she says. “I’ve always been that one that’s got the struggle to bloody get there! It’s the same with my fertility and I share it because so many people reach out who are going through the same thing.” However, The GC believes that her new diet plan with health coach Steve Bennett has even eased her PCOS symptoms.
