An investigation has been launched after GB News host host Laurence Fox launched into a “totally unacceptable” vile rant targeting a female journalist.
Programme bosses also apologised after Laurence made a series of remarks about Ava Evans, political correspondent for online news site Joe. In his sexist outburst he described her as a “little woman”.
The incident took place during an episode of Dan Wootton Tonight, on Tuesday. Ava shared a clip of the comments on Twitter, in a clip viewed more than 6 million times, with the caption “Laurence Fox just did a whole speech on GB News on why men apparently won’t sh*g me?”
Laurence said: "Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman ever, ever, who wasn’t an incel. We need powerful, strong amazing women who make great points for themselves. We don’t need these sort of feminist 4.0. They’re pathetic and embarrassing. Who’d want to shag that?”
As both Laurence and host Dan laughed, Laurence added: "Sorry, it's true though", reports the Mirror
Appearing to try and defuse the situation, Dan said: "I’m just going to provide a touch of balance from her because she did actually respond to this earlier today, saying that she regretted her comments, but she didn’t apologise. So there you go. And she’s a very beautiful woman Laurence, very beautiful.”
Ava said the footage made her feel “physically sick” in a follow-up post on Twitter. The discussion came after Ava appeared on BBC’s Politics Live on Monday.
She said after her appearance on the BBC show: "I was a little rash on my anti-minister for men comments which I do regret and am actually very interested in a brief for a minister on young men’s mental health.”
