Another GB News presenter says he has been suspended.
Calvin Robinson took to X/Twitter to write a lengthy message criticising the UK channel for suspending Dan Wootton over his role in a misogynistic segment on Dan Wootton Tonight before quickly following up to say he had also been stepped down.
This story is moving fast and Robinson’s statement came soon after GB News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said Laurence Fox‘s comments about journalist Ava Evans were “appalling” and offered a personal apology to her. Fox has also released a video saying he expects to be sacked today.
Robinson, a deacon for the evangelical Free Church of England and right-wing commentator, claimed GB News “will be on borrowed time” if it does not support Wootton, adding: “We will all be the next in the firing line.” He had also written he would not appear on Wootton’s show today with its lead presenter.
Wootton was seen sniggering after another Fox, who is also a GB News presenter, made misogynistic comments about PoliticsJOE reporter Evans, saying, “Who’d want to shag that?” Evans has said she has been targeted with hate on social media since the broadcast.
The segment led to 7,300 complaints to media regulator Ofcom and has heaped pressure on GB News, whose focus on personality-led presenters and use of Conservative Party politicians as interviewers continues to draw heat. The network is already subject to several Ofcom investigations.
Deadline has reached out to GB News to confirm Robinson’s suspension.
I will not be appearing on Dan Wootton Tonight without Dan Wootton.
Dan Wootton had a significant part to play in building GB News.
