Joe Otterson TV Reporter Production is underway on Season 2 of the “Frasier,” with Peri Gilpin set to return in the new season. Gilpin famously played Roz Doyle throughout the original show’s 11-season run. She then reprised the role in a guest star appearance in the first season finale of the revival.
She is now set to make multiple appearance in Season 2 as a recurring guest star. In addition, James Burrows will return to the series to direct two episodes, as he did in the first season. Gilpin is not the only original series actor to return for the revival.
Bebe Neuwirth reprised the role of Lilith Sternin, whom she originally played on “Cheers” before making multiple appearances on the original “Frasier,” in the revival’s seventh episode. In the revival, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) returns to Boston to be closer to his son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and to take up a teaching position at Harvard after the cancellation of his talk show in Chicago. The cast also includes Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, and Anders Keith.
“Frasier” is created by writers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli. Both serve as showrunners as well as executive producers along with Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. CBS Studios producers in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions.
The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of the Paramount+ markets. In a previous interview with Variety, Grammer said he believes the new show could run for “another 100 episodes at least…There’s enough groundwork laid between these human beings; they are wonderful characters. I want to see where they go.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Adria Arjona has joined the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Criminal,” Variety has learned. Arjona is now the second confirmed cast member in the series, alongside the previously announced Richard Jenkins. “Criminal” is based on the graphic novels of the same name by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Genesis Rodriguez has joined “Lioness” Season 2 at Paramount+, Variety has learned. The second season of the espionage drama was announced earlier in May. Rodriguez will star as Captain Josephina Carrillo, described as “a dedicated soldier with a fierce personality” and “a skilled helicopter pilot.” The cast also includes Zoe Saldana, Laysla De Oliveira, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, and Morgan Freeman.

Previously titled “Special Ops: Lioness,” the series debuted its first season at the streamer in July 2023. It hails from Taylor Sheridan, who produced the series under his expansive overall deal with Paramount.
