Love Island’s Francesca Allen surprised fans last month when she dropped the bombshell news that she was engaged to waste management CEO Ed Crossan in an emotional Instagram post. The pair had mostly been keeping their relationship out of the public eye and only went public a month prior to their engagement when she teased his identity with another loved-up snap.It turns out the pair have actually been friends through their families for years, with their relationship only seemingly turning romantic last year.
The 2019 Islander has now opened up about crossing the line from pals to boyfriend and girlfriend after admitting she thought she’d been “friend zoned”. During a recent Instagram Q&A with fans, Fran told her followers that the early days of their relationship had been “strange” and “complicated” but she’s now happier than ever.
When one of her followers asked how long she and Ed had been dating, Francesca replied, “This is a strange one. When someone’s your friend, you don’t necessarily date.
There’s been times where I’m like, ‘Was that a date?’ “In the past I used to get really freaked out and be like ‘Oh my god, was that a date? Was this a date? I’m so scared, this is my friend.’” She continued, “We would just FaceTime every day. We never got intimate, it was always just my friends with his friends and we would have the best times out together.
