Former Queen of the South loanee undergoes "successful surgery" after car crash

Former Queen of the South player Dapo Mebude has undergone “successful surgery” after a car crash in Belgium at the weekend.
Mebude, who signed for Belgian club KV Oostende in 2022, had to be cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle following the incident at 9am on Sunday.
The crash happened as he was heading to a training session at his club.
Dapo suffered serious injuries and Oostende reported that he had undergone surgery.
A club statement said: “Dapo Mebude underwent successful surgery after his accident. Tomorrow we will get more information about his situation. We thank the medical staff of AZ Brugge for the good care.”
It had earlier posted : “The practice match between Knokke and KVO was cancelled due to a car accident of player Dapo Mebude.
“Our thoughts are already with Dapo and his family.”
The 22-year-old striker joined Queens on loan from Rangers on a short-term deal in 2021.
In a statement on its website the Palmerston club said: “Everyone at Queen of the South would like to send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to former loan striker Dapo Mebude who was involved in a serious car crash in Belgium over the weekend.
“Dapo, who has been playing for KV Oostende whilst in Belgium, is reported to have suffered ‘life threatening injuries’.”
