Former Hollyoaks star Lee Otway is set to appear in the final season of Netflix's The Crown, and he looks completely different! It's not often that soap stars and royalty mix, but fans will recognise Lee from his time on Channel 4's popular series. While Hollyoaks has the McQueen family, The Crown features the real-life Queen and her family. Lee, who played David 'Bombhead' Burke on Hollyoaks from 2001 until 2011, will be seen in the sixth and final season of The Crown, which started this week.
The 41 year old actor, who has also appeared in Heartbeat, Doctors and even the celebrity version of Love Island, will play Kez Wingfield in the new season. His storyline is expected to involve scenes depicting the circumstances surrounding the death of Princess Diana, who is portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki in the show. In reality, Kez was a bodyguard for the late Princess Diana and her then-boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed.
He revealed at an inquest in 2008 that he and his fellow bodyguards felt exhausted due to long working hours and understaffing while providing round-the-clock protection. Lee's role marks a victorious comeback to acting, having only had four roles since leaving Hollyoaks over ten years ago.
The actor, who was known for his short blonde spiky hair on the Channel 4 soap, now sports a more muscular look and finely cropped hair. In a recent episode of The Act Now Show podcast, Lee shared: "Maybe in hindsight I should have had more of a career plan but I went with the moment - but my thought process was: why not? I ended up doing all these things and they were what they were.
