A former high-ranking Greater Manchester Police officer has been appointed as an adviser by mayor Andy Burnham's office.
Neil Evans, who was a Chief Superintendent in charge of three divisions until November, will advise deputy mayor Bev Hughes, who oversees policing, crime, criminal justice and the fire service.
The post carries a salary of £60,000 a year, but Mr Evans will be paid on a pro rata basis as he is not expected to work five days a week.
