The drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling continues. Apparently, Florence Pugh was mad director Olivia Wilde kept “disappearing” to canoodle with her boyfriend, Harry Styles, on set.
Puck News reported tensions came to a head at one point, in which Florence expressed her displeasure with Olivia’s behavior during filming. “Pugh, in particular, was angered by the absences, according to these sources, and one source personally witnessed a tense conversation about this issue between the two,” the site’s reporter Matthew Belloni contended in an article published on August 27.
Don’t Worry Darling is Olivia’s second foray into directing a feature-length film, with her debut Booksmart released in 2019. But Don’t Worry Darling’s release has been largely overshadowed by rumors of a feud between Olivia and Florence, one of its lead actors. Early in the film’s coverage, fans observed Florence’s promotion of Don’t Worry Darling was almost non-existent, while Olivia was posting regularly about it across her social media accounts. Some even zeroed in on the fact that Florence hadn’t “liked” any of Olivia’s social media activity related to the film.
The two women also seem to have differing opinions on the importance of the movie’s sex scenes. While Olivia told Vogue in December 2021 she aims to shine a light on how rarely audiences see “female hunger, and specifically this type of female pleasure,” Florence feels the movie’s marketing has been too focused on sex. “When it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it. It’s not why I’m in this industry,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in August. “Obviously, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re

is proving to be a very ironic title for Olivia Wilde's sophomore directorial effort, as quite a bit of drama worth worrying about has unfolded over the course of production and the subsequent promotional blitz ahead of the film's release next month. From the film's early casting shakeups — with Harry Styles taking over for Shia LaBeouf — to Wilde's high-profile split from her long-time partner, Jason Sudeikis, and subsequent romance with her new leading man, drama, rumors and mild scandals have permeated every facet of the film's production. While the drama had largely been between Wilde, LaBeouf and Florence Pugh, Styles and co-star Chris Pine have been dragged into the rumor mill over an alleged incident at the Venice Film Festival — which has been filled with drama for the film on all fronts. With the tensions between Wilde and LaBeouf coming to a head last week as the actor accused the filmmaker of misrepresenting his exit from the film — and rumors swirling over Pugh's alleged feud with Wilde supposedly due to her romance with Styles and split from Sudeikis — it feels like risks being overshadowed by the controversy.Amid the back-and-forth allegations and fan-fueled rumors, ET is breaking down all the drama and examining the behind-the-scenes in-fighting and how the headline-grabbing feuds first formed. In April 2020, news broke that Pugh and LaBeouf — as well as Chris Pine — had been cast as the leads of Wilde's forthcoming drama, which is set in the 1950s.
The plot thickens. Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde‘s stylists appeared to have shared their thoughts on the actresses’ rumored feud.
Florence Pugh is thriving amid all the drama and online rumors caused by the ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ film, showing that she is not letting it get to her despite her alleged feud with Olivia Wilde and some tension among the rest of the cast, including Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Sydney Chandler and Nick Kroll. The cast of the film walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival together, despite previous reports that detailed a pay disparity between Pugh and Styles, and a video that surfaced online, in which Wilde asks Shia LaBeouf to stay in the film, calling Florence, “Miss Flo.”And while Olivia had previously claimed that Shia had been fired for the project in an effort to create a “safer” working environment. The actor went on to respond saying that the director had in fact encouraged him to stay.Florence decided to skip press day during the festival, probably to avoid questions about the drama.
Hollywood drama has been rife surrounding the upcoming movie Don’t Worry Darling. The most recent being rumours of a fallout between Harry Styles, 28, and Chris Pine, 42, following “spit-gate”.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” is a movie that, in recent weeks, has been besieged and consumed by offscreen dramas, none of which I’ll recount here, except to note that when a film’s lead actress seems actively reluctant to publicize the film in question, that’s a sign of some serious discord. Yet it would be hugely unfair to allow this tempest in a teapot of gossipy turmoil to influence one’s feelings about the movie. If you want to talk about problems related to “Don’t Worry Darling,” you need look no further than at what’s onscreen. The film, written by Katie Silberman, with the brilliant production design of Katie Byron, is a kind of candy-colored “Stepford Wives” in the Twilight Zone meets “The Handmaid’s Tale” for the age of torn-at-the-seams democracy. In theory, this should add up to a juicy watch. Wilde, whose first feature was the witty and vivacious 2019 girls-on-a-bender comedy “Booksmart” (this is her second film), is a gifted director who knows how to set a mood. In “Don’t Worry Darling,” she does that to the max, and for a while you get caught up in it (or, at least, I did). Between the pop ambition, the tasty dream visuals, and the presence of Harry Styles in his first lead role, “Don’t Worry Darling” should have no trouble finding an audience. But the movie takes you on a ride that gets progressively less scintillating as it goes along.
“Don’t Worry Darling” actress Florence Pugh — and dodged a question about Shia LaBeouf — at the Venice Film Festival. The director attended a press panel on Monday alongside the film’s stars, Harry Styles, Gemma Chan and Chris Pine.A journalist asked Wilde to “clear the air” about a “falling out” with Pugh, who was absent — as previously expected — from speaking to the press but would attend the movie’s premiere on Monday. “Florence is a force and we are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production on ‘Dune,'” Wilde said.
Manori Ravindran International Editor Olivia Wilde isn’t commenting on alleged tensions between her and Florence Pugh, the lead of her movie. When asked at a Venice press conference whether Wilde can “clear the air” about the rumors surrounding their strained relationship, the director said: “Florence is a force. We are so grateful she’s able to make it tonight [for the red carpet]. I’m grateful to her, and to [‘Dune’ director Denis Villeneuve] for helping us. I can’t say how honored I am to have her as our lead. “As for all the endless tabloid gossip out there, the Internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think it’s sufficiently self-nourished,” said Wilde.
Olivia Wilde landed in Italy Sunday separately from boyfriend Harry Styles ahead of the "Don't Worry Darling" movie premiere at the Venice Film Festival Monday night, where Florence Pugh will not be in attendance for the press conference post screening. Wilde, who marks her second time in the director's chair with the new thriller, seemed to be in high spirits as she touched down at the Italian airport wearing a cream-colored suit.
The awkwardness continues for Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles, and Florence Pugh amid the Don’t Worry Darling press run and publicity period…
Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent On Sunday night, an hour before the hotly anticipated Sept. 5 world premiere of “Don’t Worry Darling” on the Lido, Variety celebrated director Olivia Wilde with a cocktail party hosted at the posh Danieli Hotel in Venice. Wilde, who is unveiling her second feature as a director out of competition at the festival, graces the cover of Variety’s Venice issue, on newsstands now. It marks the first dedicated Venice magazine issue that Variety has done, as the magazine’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh pointed out. “We couldn’t think of a better subject than Olivia,” Setoodeh said. Setoodeh praised Warner Bros., the studio behind “Don’t Worry Darling,” for championing theatrical releases.
We still not haven’t heard from the horse’s mouth what the true origin is of the feud between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh, but every other day it seems we’re getting more evidence of it!
