The event sparks an international struggle for power in the Arctic.“The series deals with some of the biggest political issues of our time, as well the relevance of the Danish Realm in the modern world, the superpowers’ battle for control of the Arctic – and not least, the climate crisis,” said Netflix, which described “Power & Glory” as “a stand-alone continuation of the previous seasons of ‘Borgen.'” The streamer added that “the main story focuses on the struggle for power and what power does to people – both professionally and on a personal level.”Other prominent characters in “Power & Glory” will include Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) who was previously head of press.

The Libertines have announced a one-off London arena show for this summer.Pete Doherty, Carl Barât and co. will headline the OVO Arena in Wembley, London on July 23 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut studio album, ‘Up The Bracket’ (2002).The special gig will see The Libertines perform the aforementioned record in its entirety, alongside other “classic” tracks. Deadline has launched the streaming site for Contenders Film: The Nominees, this past weekend’s showcase of 24 Oscar-nominated films and their stars, creatives and craftspeople talking about their roads to the Academy Awards.

Guillermo del Toro joined Deadline’s Contenders Film: The Nominees event this weekend to discuss his latest movie Nightmare Alley, nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture. The film is based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel, which had been previously adapted for the screen in 1947 in a noir classic starring Tyrone Power. Del Toro had read the book before he’d seen that movie, and he told Deadline he had always seen his vision for an adaptation “vividly” in his head. “I thought there were so many possibilities open in the book to talk about truth, lies, and the rise of a liar. An almost unstoppable rise,” del Toro said. “It felt very very ripe for the moment we’re in as a society.”

Contenders Film: The Nominees, a one-stop-shop experience featuring a smörgåsbord of Oscar-nominated talent discussing their top-tier projects, kicks off Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. PT as a virtual event, the latest in Deadline’s rapidly expanding Contenders series.
