Getting onto the property ladder is becoming increasingly difficult for first-time buyers.
With the average house price in Greater Manchester now at £264,500, coupled with the cost of living crisis, there is no wonder people are being forced to live at home and save for longer.
But for those who are making the step to move out and buy their first home this year, there are a few things to look out for.
Viewing homes that could potentially become yours is quite often an exciting process, but it is important not to get carried away.

A new survey by property specialists Bramleys has revealed the biggest red flags first-time buyers should be aware of when it comes to viewing on a new home.
The most common red flag is visible tobacco staining, with 30% of prospective buyers saying they would be put off buying a home with signs of tobacco.
Nicotine and tar from cigarettes can seep into walls and coat it with grease, leaving brown or yellow stains and streaks.
This is not easy to remove if its been left for a long time, therefore this is something to look out for when viewing homes.
Almost a quarter of first-time buyers also said they would not enquire about a house if there are signs of the owners being smokers, such as ashtrays visible in the listing.
If the previous owners are smokers, and they have been for a while, then quite often the smell of smoke can linger in the home - which is another red flag to look out for when house-hunting.
Another common red flag is heavily stained carpets, with 28% of new buyers saying they would be put off as this would emphasise that the home was dirty and hadn't been well looked after.
