A nine-year-old boy who died in an area of a Scots wood in Lanarkshire on Sunday has been named as Jordan Moore.
Police were called to a report of concern for a child in a wooded area near Abbeygreen Road in Lesmahagow, at around 6.50pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly, Jordan was pronounced dead.
At the time of the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Sunday, 2 June, 2024, we were called to a report of concern for a child in a wooded area near to Abbeygreen Road, Lesmahagow.
“Emergency services attended but the nine-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Police confirmed on Wednesday that the boy was nine-year-old Jordan Moore, a pupil at Woodpark Primary School.
Following a post-mortem examination, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
His family paid tribute to him, saying: “Our Jordan was the most loving, caring, happy, handsome wee boy. He’ll forever be in all our hearts.”
Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas said: “Our thoughts are with Jordan’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“His family are being supported by officers and have requested that their privacy is respected at this time.”
Debbie MacKenna, head teacher at Woodpark Primary School, also paid tribute to the boy, describing him as 'loyal and fun-loving'.
She said: “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Jordan, who was a valued member of our school community.
