First official photo of King and Queen Consort alongside Prince and Princess of Wales released

A new photo of King Charles III with Camilla, the queen consort, and William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, was released by Buckingham Palace on Saturday, and a body language expert is weighing in on the latest royal snapshot.  The photo shows the four most senior members of the royal family smiling at the camera in black mourning clothes.  It was taken at Buckingham Palace the night before Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and ahead of a state reception hosted by the king for heads of state invited to the Westminster Abbey service. A smiling family portrait of the King, his son who is the first in line to the throne and their wives has been released by Buckingham Palace.The image of King Charles III and his Queen Consort, standing alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, was taken at Buckingham Palace on September 18, just 10 days after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.The senior royals are wearing black as the image was taken while they were in mourning for the Queen – leading the nation in grief, but also carrying out official engagements. Charles, 73, is standing with his left hand held at the top of his pocket, while his right arm is gently tucked around Camilla’s waist.

Her Majesty the Queen's cause of death has been revealed to be old age, with no other contributing factors.The late monarch died aged 96 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland, on 8 September at 15:10pm. She's said to have died "peacefully" with her family at her beside - her beloved corgis Muick and Sandy included.

With the release of Netflix’s fifth season of The Crown in a matter of weeks, sources close to the new King suggest the palace is moving to protect the monarchy from the dramatisation. Over the weekend, streaming giant Netflix released a trailer for the upcoming fifth season of The Crown, which showed Princess Diana and Prince Charles preparing for TV interviews about their relationship.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat behind the King and Queen Consort during the funeral service of the late Queen Elizabeth II, putting them front and centre for the Royal event. This seating arrangement is being said to reflect that the couple may be back in the heart of the Royal family.

The world will be watching. Queen Elizabeth II will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, in St George’s Chapel during her funeral on Monday, September 19.

Queen Elizabeth II's funeral on Monday 19 September will take place at Westminster Abbey, and King Charles III, 73, confirmed that the day will be a national bank holiday. On the morning of the sombre day, the lying-in-State period will end and the Queen’s Coffin will be taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the State Funeral Service will take place.

The King and Queen Consort hosted world leaders and official overseas guests at Buckingham Palace on Sunday 18 September. His Majesty, 73, and Camilla, 75, were also joined at the event by Kate Middleton and Prince William in what the King’s spokesman described as an “official state event”.

A not-so-united front. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not join the royal family to meet with world leaders ahead of Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral on Sunday, September 18, after seemingly being uninvited.

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. A whirlwind visit. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla rounded out their royal tour of the U.K. in Wales ahead of Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral.

The King and Queen Consort are visiting Wales today, as the late Queen's lying in state continues at Westminster Hall. King Charles III has begun his first visit to Wales as monarch and will start his tour by attending a service of prayer and reflection for the life of the Queen at Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff. Charles arrived by helicopter with the Queen Consort and travelled by state limousine in bright sunshine to the service, which is also being attended by Prime Minister Liz Truss and leading figures from Wales.

Prince Harry celebrated his 38th birthday Thursday with little fanfare as he continued mourning Queen Elizabeth II and the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana's death. The Duke of Sussex had his "second saddest birthday" as his day consisted of visiting tributes to the late sovereign, who died Sept. 8 at the age of 96.
