As he navigates through a small British community veiled in enigma and fear, a hidden portal to a parallel realm offers a chance at reunion, blurring reality as secrets unfurl. The film is directed by Matthew Tibbenham (“Surviving Confession,” video game “Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom”).

Kate Aurthur editor Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus is doing a three-part Netflix docuseries about the serial killings of Gilgo Beach on Long Island, for which Rex Heuermann of Massapequa Park was arrested in July. Between 10 and 16 women were killed on Long Island in the ’90s and 2000s, with many of their remains being found on Gilgo Beach, but it was thought to be a cold case until Heuermann was arrested and charged with three of the murders. He has pleaded not guilty.

The crime drama Heist 88 starring two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) has set its linear and streaming premiere dates. Inspired by one of the largest bank robberies in U.S. history, the film is set to debut exclusively on Paramount+ with Showtime on September 29. It will make its way to Showtime for its linear debut at 9 p.m. ET/PT on October 1st.

Alongside talent from the region who are already entrenched in Hollywood, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Freida Pinto, in recent years several South Asian actors have appeared in international projects.

Anna Marie de la Fuente Chilean indie Equeco, led by Pablo Calisto, is a triple threat at the 19th Santiago Int’l Film Festival (Sanfic), with three projects participating in the annual event running August 20-27. Vying for the top prize in the official competition is Equeco’s “Historia y Geografia,” which debuts its teaser trailer exclusively on Variety. Equeco is also embarking on its most ambitious project, “Il Cileno” by Sergio Castro San Martín, a historical drama in co-production with Italy’s Dispàrte, a Rome-based independent production company founded in 2015 by Alessandro Amato and Luigi Chimienti.

Disney+ has revealed first look images for its Australian original series The Artful Dodger, starring Thomas Brodie-Sangster, David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell, along with a premiere date of November 29.

Written by Shaktimaan Talwar and directed by Anil Sharma, “Gadar 2” is a sequel to 2001 smash hit “Gadar,” which was set after the partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan in the 1947-54 period. It revolved around the adventures of Tara Singh (Deol) and Sakeena (Ameesha Patel), and there was plenty of action set in Pakistan.

Naman Ramachandran Zee Studios blockbuster “Gadar 2,” headlined by Sunny Deol, could get a third part and a spinoff, provided the story is right. The film is already amongst the highest Indian grossers of the year with $45 million globally in just seven days of release.
