Fans furious over Tyra Banks' comments in old 'America's Next Top Model' video

Wanna be on top?  For 24 straight seasons (sorry, cycles) hundreds of thousands of runway rookies very much did. Leggy natives of Joliet, Illinois and Grand Forks, North Dakota turned up to the America's Next Top Model set to the learn the art of the smize and the booty touch and, most importantly, how to build a career in fashion á la host Tyra Banks, who very much dominated the field from 1996 (the year she first appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue) onward. 

So much for wimmin empowering wimmin! It’s taken a while for the penny to drop but we’ve had time on our hands to root about in the archives during this lockdown and it turns out Tyra Banks is nothing short of a mean girl bully.

As time goes on, its become painfully obvious that some of America’s Next Top Model episodes truly did NOT age well…

Tyra Banks is speaking out in response to the insensitive moments that were featured on her reality show America’s Next Top Model throughout the years.

Tyra Banks admits that some moments from her time as host of were problematic.Earlier this week, and was caught in a social media firestorm after a video from Cycle 6 of the popular modeling competition on Twitter. In said clip, Banks can be seen pressuring contestant Danielle Evans—who went on to win that year's title—to get the gap in her teeth closed via dental surgery.

Owning her mistakes. Tyra Banks admitted that she made some missteps in her early years of hosting America’s Next Top Model after controversial clips from the show resurfaced on social media.

Tyra Banks agrees that America's Next Top Model has aged, well, poorly.  The Sports Illustrated covergirl and host of ANTM came under fire this week when resurfaced clips from the long-running modeling competition made their way across social media.  In some of the moments that drew particular ire, Tyra criticized the appearance of several contestants and told Cycle 6 winner Dani Evans that she'd never make it in the modeling world because of the gap in her teeth.
