Vermont resident Matt Rapphahn was an eyewitness to the accident that took Treat Williams‘ life earlier this week, and he’s now detailing what he saw that day.

Rapphahn told People he tuned around “just in time” to see the accident happen, and estimates Treat was thrown around 15 feet after his motorcycle was hit my a 2008 Honda Element.
“I ran over to [Treat], and then I ran back to the shop and called 911,” Rapphahn, who owns a local body shop, said. He said the driver of the Element also got out to “console” Treat.
Rapphahn shared, “It was hard to tell [it was Treat] with the helmet on but [the driver] knows him — knew him — and he was saying, ‘Oh, my God, it’s Treat.’”
“Emergency services were asking him questions,” Rapphahn said, adding that it appeared “he was in a great deal of pain.”
“But they had to get him onto the backboard to get him onto the stretcher and then onto the ambulance,” the witness added.
