However, amidst the uncertainty, Kate has found solace in the steadfast presence of her trusted staffer and nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, according to royal expert Jennie Bond.
Jennie sheds light on the challenges the Cambridge children may be facing during this tumultuous time, telling OK!: "You have to feel for the children.
This must be a very unsettling time for them. George, in particular, must be aware of his grandfather’s illness...
and coming on top of his mother’s surgery, it will be a lot for a young boy to deal with." In times like these, the children’s nanny plays a crucial role in maintaining a sense of normalcy for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Jennie emphasises Maria’s significance, stating: "Maria will be a vital support to them, a comforting presence that must make everything feel normal for them." She adds: “I’m sure William might have had a word with the school as well, just to make sure that they keep a special eye on the children and report back if they are showing any signs of stress.
“It is a school that prides itself on nurturing the well-being and emotional health of its pupils.. so they are in good hands there." Kate’s close relationship with Maria is evident, especially during times of vulnerability.
"I think when you have had a health setback like this, you feel particularly vulnerable – and rather emotional too," Jennie explains.
