Angelique Jackson On the heels of a breakthrough role in Netflix and A24’s “Beef,” actor Young Mazino has signed with M88 for representation. The Korean American actor stars in the dramedy series as Paul Cho, the crypto-investing younger brother of Danny (Steven Yeun), whose road rage incident with a woman named Amy Lau (Ali Wong) marks the show’s central “beef.” With Danny and Amy unable to move past their vitriolic interaction, Paul finds himself increasingly embroiled in their drama to a dangerous end. Strong reviews for Mazino’s performance amid the buzz for the show — which premiered at SXSW before launching on Netflix last month — have put him in the mix for his first Emmy nomination (in the outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or TV movie category).

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Jung Ho-seok, better known as J-Hope, Tuesday became the second member of K-pop sensation BTS to join the Korean military. Approaching his 30th birthday, J-Hope attended an army camp at Wongju, south of Seoul, and is expected to begin five weeks of basic training there. Local news agencies reported a small crowd of fans, seemingly outnumbered by assembled journalists, waited outside the camp to wish him well. Their number was reported to be diminished by bad weather. Earlier, J-Hope had posted on the Weverse fandom platform words of encouragement and a pair of photos revealing his newly-shorn hair. “I love you all. ARMY, I will return safely,” he wrote. ‘Army’ in that sense is a reference to BTS’s legion of fans, rather than the Korean military services.

K-pop idol and actress Yerin, best known as a former member of girl group GFRIEND, has signed with a new agency.Today (April 17), Bill Entertainment announced that the ex-GFRIEND member has signed a new exclusive contract with the agency. Notably, the company is a subsidiary of Fact Invest, which also owns Big Planet Made, where former GFRIEND members Eunha, SinB and Umji are signed to as VIVIZ.“We’re happy to accompany Yerin, who has unlimited potential as an artist, in her new start,” said Bill Entertainment, as translated by Soompi.

NMIXX member released a short black-and-white teaser called “Stay tuned” on the YouTube channel of her new agency, United Artist Production (UAP). The clip features the K-pop idol dancing in a rehearsal studio, set to a funky instrumental.The cryptic teaser comes just days after Jini signed with UAP, following her departure from NMIXX and JYP Entertainment in December 2022.

Amazon is reportedly contemplating reboots for around a dozen hit movies and series that were owned by MGM after acquiring the studio.
