Movie star Ewan McGregor has admitted that meeting Darth Vader in ‘real life’ scared the ‘sh*t’ out of him.
The 51-year-old Scot, who shot to fame playing druggie Mark Renton in 1996 movie Trainspotting, said that he was left ‘terrified’ when he first came eye-to-eye with the Dark Lord.
The dad-of-five - who plays Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the new Disney+ series of the same name - said he got a ‘proper jolt of fear’ when he saw Darth Vader, played by Hayden Christensen.
He said: “I had rehearsed the scene with Vader, but not with the helmet on.
“When we came to do the scene - when they shouted ‘action’ - he had to come from behind me.
“I turned around and fu**ing Darth Vader was coming at me.
“It was like I was six again - I’d never met Darth Vader, I’d never looked him in the eye.”
He told Total Film mag in the latest edition: “It scared the sh*t out of me.
“I’m not joking - it gave me a proper jolt of absolute fear.
“I was like ‘Oh my God, that’s not acting, that’s real - I’m really, truly frightened right now.”
Asked about the Stormtroopers, the movie star said they also ‘scared him,’ adding: “When you’re actually faced with a Stormtrooper with a blaster it’s like ‘Fu*king hell’, it’s like actual childhood memories of being scared.
“I’ve acted for 30 years and I’ve never been genuinely frightened when I’m acting, but I had moments on this that were genuinely quite scary.”
