The boss of Ireland's Eurosong competition has revealed why the choice for the public to choose their representative at Eurovision 2022 has been brought back.
Last year, Irish Eurovision entrant Lesley Roy failed to place in the Grand Final with her stirring anthem Maps. Now, a batch of young Irish musical talent is vying to step on to the stage in Turin, Italy.
Airing February 4 on The Late Late Show, Eurosong will see six songs all compete to win the chance to represent Ireland in Eurovision 2022.
Michael Kealy told the Irish Sun and RTE Radio 1 that the return of the show was "a bit like football coming home."
"It's a while since we've done Eurosong. 2015 or 2016 was the last time I think we did Eurosong."
Kealy also confirmed that Eurosong will include an international jury of voters for the first time ever, because "it's worthwhile knowing what people in other European countries think of our entry."
In total, the six songs and acts competing in Eurosong are: Brooke Scullion with That's Rich, Rachel Goode with I'm Loving Me, Brendan Murray with Real Love, Janet Grogan with Ashes of Yesterday, Patrick O'Sullivan with One Night, One Kiss, One Promise and Mike Graham with Yeah We're Gonna Get Out Of It.
