Mark Lanegan was the lead singer for the pioneering grunge band Screaming Trees known for the song “Nearly Lost You.”  Mark Lanegan was a singer-songwriter best known as the lead singer for the pioneering psychedelic grunge band Screaming Trees. Lanegan co-founded Screaming Trees in 1984 and the band would become prominent in the Seattle grunge music scene that included Nirvana, Peral Jam, and Soundgarden. Spotify streams of Little Simz‘ music have soared over 350 per cent following her appearance at this year’s BRIT Awards.The rapper, who released her last album, ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, back in September, won the award for Best New Artist at last night’s (February 8) ceremony at London’s The O2. She also performed a medley of her tracks ‘Introvert’ and ‘Woman’.Her massive night has since prompted a huge spike in Spotify streams in comparison to other BRITs winners including Adele, Silk Sonic, Ed Sheeran, Dave and Sam Fender.There was a 812 per cent increase in streams of ‘Introvert’ and a 594 per cent spike for ‘Woman’, equating to a 365 per cent jump overall.Elsewhere, Adele, who took home three BRITs last night (Artist Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year), saw a 137 per cent increase in Spotify streams following the awards, while Dave’s streams went up by 217 per cent. Daughters Of Reykjavík are competing in Söngvakeppnin, Iceland’s talent competition dedicated to deciding who will represent the country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.The Söngvakeppnin 2022 entries will be split across two semi-finals on February 26 and March 5. Feminist hip-hop collective Daughters of Reykjavïk will join Amarosis, Stefán Óli, Haffi Haff, Stefanía Svavarsdóttir, Sigga, Beta and Elín, Markéta Irglová, SUNCITY & SANNA, Katla, and Hanna Mia and The Astrotourists in the competition.Public votes will decide which acts will reach the semi-finals and there’s also a “potential wildcard entry” voted on by Söngvakeppnin’s executive committee.International jury votes and televotes will decide on the winner at the March 12 final.
