ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr, Australia’s only out gay head of state, has an important message for public health authorities dealing with the monkeypox outbreak. Barr said that it was important to get the message out that this was not some “niche disease” that only impacted gay men. Barr was speaking to the media following Thursday’s National Cabinet meeting where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, state premiers and territory chief ministers met to coordinate the national response to COVID-19, foot and mouth disease and monkeypox. Barr said that some of the commentary around monkeypox was “concerning”.  “This monkeypox is not a gay man’s disease. Marauders was openly inspired by Battlestate Games‘ Escape From Tarkov, but Small Impact Games‘ lead developer Cameron Small says that his love of one particular map – Factory – has “definitely bled” into development.Speaking to NME, Small shared that he’s played “a lot of Tarkov“, and names the first-person shooter (FPS) as one of the big inspirations for Marauders, along with Star Citizen and Sea Of Thieves.Touching on Marauders‘ claustrophobic close-range maps, Small revealed that Escape From Tarkov‘s Factory map – which is the game’s smallest and closest-quarters location – may have had a part to play.“I’m a Factory main, so that’s definitely bled into development,” shared Small, who added that he loves Escape From Tarkov with his “heart and soul” and thinks it’s “the best multiplayer game in existence.”Though Marauders is set in the stars – complete with spaceship dogfights and dramatic breaching – Small said he wants Escape From Tarkov‘s methodical playstyle to remain important.“We want to keep that tactical element where you’re listening for audio, taking your time, peeking your corners,” says Small, who plans to “marry” the playstyle with Marauders‘ wider approach to adding more social features.“You can’t beat Tarkov on its gunplay – it’s some of the best in the world! A new online petition is calling on the UK Government to set a minimum level of weekly State Pension payments of £200 for every retiree, irrespective of gender, marital status or National Insurance Contributions record. Jered Barclay, a longtime stage and screen actor who found a second career as a TV voice-over artist for series including The Smurfs and The Transformers, has died. He was 91. His longtime friend Myra Turley said Barclay died July 23 of MDS leukemia in North Hollywood, CA.

Shania Twain revealed how a Lyme disease diagnosis affected her career in the Netflix documentary "Not Just a Girl." Twain, 56, was diagnosed with the disease after being bitten by a tick while horseback riding in 2003. Years later, the country music star explained her symptoms, which she characterized as "quite scary." "Before I was diagnosed, I was on stage very dizzy," Twain said in the documentary (via Page Six). "I was losing my balance, I was afraid I was gonna fall off the stage." "I was having these very, very, very millisecond blackouts, but regularly, every minute or every 30 seconds," she continued.
