Erik ten Hag said Manchester United needed Antony to provide greater depth to their attacking department as the Brazilian closes in on an £85.51million transfer.
United and Ajax confirmed they had agreed a fee for Antony on Monday and the 22-year-old will have to complete a medical and obtain a visa before he finalises his move. The Brazilian is already in Manchester.

Anthony Martial is still sidelined for United with an Achilles injury and United have only scored four goals in their first four games. Antony is expected to slot in on the right-hand side of the front three.

Manchester United do not expect any more incomings after they complete deals for Antony and Martin Dubravka.
Antony is already in Manchester to finalise his transfer from Ajax and Newcastle goalkeeper Dubravka is set to arrive as back-up to David de Gea and Tom Heaton.United held exploratory discussions with Barcelona about right-back Sergino Dest but expect Aaron Wan-Bissaka to stay amid a lack of takers.
