Joe Otterson TV Reporter In a storyline worthy of the finest pro wrestling angles, the McMahon family’s nearly complete control of WWE is coming to an end after seven decades. That is not to say there will no one within the McMahon family at the helm of the sports entertainment juggernaut. With the announcement that Endeavor Group is purchasing WWE and combining it into a new company with the UFC, it was revealed that Vince McMahon will be executive chairman of the board of the new entity. In addition, Paul Levesque — known to fans as Triple H and also McMahon’s son-in-law — will stay on as chief content officer, a role he assumed in September 2022. But no longer will the WWE be the family-run business that WWE and its predecessors have been since McMahon’s father and grandfather began promoting professional wrestling in New York in 1953. As such, it marks the end of an era for TV’s dominant pro wrestling franchise.
Under the terms of the deal unveiled April 3, Endeavor will hold a 51% controlling interest in the new company and existing WWE shareholders will hold 49%. Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel will serve as CEO of the newly formed company housing WWE and UFC, in addition to staying on as Endeavor CEO. McMahon, the majority shareholder in WWE, announced his intentions to seek a buyer for the company in January. It was at the same time he returned after a five-month retirement that began as WWE was undertaking an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against McMahon. He recently reimbursed the company just over $17 million for costs related to that investigation. Arnold Schwarzenegger is willing to fill more potholes in the city of Los Angeles. The 75-year-old actor went viral last week when he shared a video of him filling a pothole in his Brentwood neighborhood after becoming frustrated that it was "screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks." The move caused controversy with the City of Los Angeles. A city spokesperson later said it was "not a pothole" but a "utility trench" for ongoing repair work being conducted by SoCalGas.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre are officially back in business together, with the actor joining Lorre’s HBO Max series “How to Be a Bookie.” Variety has confirmed with sources that Sheen will recur in the upcoming HBO Max series (with the streamer set to be renamed Max in the next month). The show stars Sebastian Maniscalco and was ordered to series in October. Reps for Warner Bros. Television and HBO Max declined to comment. Sheen and Lorre previously worked together on the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” Lorre co-created and executive produced the show, with Sheen starring. Sheen earned four Emmy nominations during his time on the show, but infamously left in the eighth season amid a public meltdown that included his viral “tiger blood” interview with ABC News and entering drug rehab. Sheen proceeded to make a number of disparaging remarks about Lorre publicly, with Lorre killing off Sheen’s character on “Two and a Half Men.” It was revealed in the series finale that Sheen’s character was not really dead, but died in the finale when a piano fell on his head.

After being hailed a hero for filling in a pothole in his Brentwood community, Arnold Schwarzenegger's good deed has not gone unpunished, with the city claiming he interrupted scheduled maintenance for a service trench. A city spokesperson clarified that the location "is not a pothole," but rather "a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May," in a statement given to NBC Los Angeles.

The two-night event was up 29% in hours viewed and 32% in reach compared to last year’s WrestleMania, Peacock announced Tuesday. The NBCUniversal-owned streamer also claims that WrestleMania 39 generated the most hours-watched of any live event on Peacock with the exception of the Super Bowl. It should be noted that, like other streaming services, Peacock does not provide specific viewership information to back up these claims. On linear television, the episode of “Monday Night Raw” that aired on USA Network the day after the final night of WrestleMania saw a significant boost in the ratings. This week’s episode nabbed 997,000 viewers in the key adults 18-49 demographic, the highest demo audience for “Raw” since February 2020 and up 37% from last week. In total viewers, the episode averaged 2.26 million viewers, up 23% over last week.

Endeavor Group Holdings and Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment have entered a definitive agreement to create a new $21.4 billion live sports and entertainment company consisting of UFC and WWE.The deal, which was unanimously approved by Endeavor and WWE’s boards of directors, values UFC at $12.1 billion and WWE at $9.3 billion. It is expected to close in the second half of 2023.Under the terms of the transaction, existing WWE shareholders will roll all existing equity into a new entity that will be the parent company of UFC and WWE (“NewCo” until it is named at a later date) and intends to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “TKO”.

The two-day pay-per-view and streaming extravaganza concludes Sunday evening, with more than 80,000 fans in attendance in Los Angeles. The WWE has been actively exploring an acquisition deal for some time now. Vince McMahon, the longtime public face and majority owner of the professional wrestling organization, returned to the company as executive chairman in January. McMahon had exited his WWE leadership role last year amid investigations into sexual misconduct allegations, leaving his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, to take on offices as chairman and co-CEO alongside Nick Khan, who previously served as the company’s president.
