When Covid hit, we had about two months off of work, and then I got a phone call from one of the producers saying, “Do you want to do a standalone 30-minute piece, just you and Lisa [Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle]?” It was basically like doing a play. Me and Lisa got the scripts, rehearsed it all on FaceTime and then went in and shot the episode.
It was brilliant. What’s it like working with soap royalty like Lisa? I still learn stuff from her every day, she’s just brilliant. We have this joke that she’s my second mum.
My real mum is called Mandy, so we call her ‘Mandy one’ and Lisa is ‘Mandy two’. I love Lise to pieces and it’s an honour and a privilege to work with her every day. Who else are you closest to behind the scenes? We’re a really close-knit cast. The people I’m closest to are probably Lisa and Isobel [Steele, who plays Liv Dingle].They are the two I’ve got most of my scenes with.

Any foundation can smooth over your imperfections, but what about a base that genuinely improves what’s underneath too? That’s precisely what you can expect from 2022’s new breed of hybrid formulas, which bring together skincare and makeup like never before. Let’s start with the camouflage element. Rather than masking in a heavy, obvious way (ie not safe for daylight hours), the latest formulas use pigments that melt seamlessly in the skin, with clever light-diffusing effects.
