Ellen DeGeneres wants to make a comeback… but are people ready for it?
The 66-year-old comedian very publicly fell out of grace back in 2020 when she was accused by then-current and former Ellen DeGeneres Show employees alike of facilitating a toxic work environment. From allegedly penalizing people for taking medical leave, rumored racial microaggressions, reportedly not wanting employees to look her in the eye, and sooo much more. It was announced in 2021 that The Ellen Degeneres Show would be coming to an end after a 19-year run, and in 2022, the talk show host made her final appearance on the now-axed show. Two years have now passed, and Ellen has remained relatively out of the spotlight. But it sounds like she feels the spotlight is exactly where she was born to be — and she’s dead set on making a comeback!

In April, she put out feelers with a stand–up comedy set at the Largo in El Lay. There, she talked about being “the most hated person in America,” being “kicked out of show business,” hating the “way the show ended,” and the mental toll everything took on her. During her set, she teased that audiences “need more laughter and less drama,” and in May, announced a major deal: a Netflix special!
Dubbed Ellen’s Last Stand… Up, the special is set to film in Minneapolis in August. And after having so much time to think things over, she’ll reportedly be talking about EVERYTHING during it! A friend told Page Six over the weekend:
