Elle Edwards' killer Connor Chapman's journey from petty criminal and 'ASBO yob' to murderer

When Connor Chapman's own barrister read out his previous convictions in the trial for killing Elle Edwards, it took several minutes. Merseyside Police has a gallery of mugshots for the murderer, appearing older and with longer hair as the years roll on.
His name has been known to officers for the best part of a decade, possibly even longer, the Liverpool Echo reports. His most recent spell in prison came to an end last summer.
But on Christmas Eve, he gunned down a 26-year-old woman who was celebrating the festivities at a Wirral pub. He will be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court today (July 7).

Pick a petty crime and, as a teenager, Chapman probably did it. Aggravated vehicle taking, threatening behaviour, breaching the peace, a high speed chase which ended with him hiding in a bush and telling officers he was "waiting for a mate" when they found him.
Growing up on the Woodchurch Estate, in Birkenhead, and mostly living with his grandparents, Chapman attended Woodchurch High School but left before sitting his GCSEs. He was first hauled before the courts as long ago as 2014, when he would have only been aged around 14, for shoplifting.
When Mark Rhind KC read out Chapman's criminal record in full, it included burglary, section 47 assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place in 2015. In 2016, the youth was before the criminal justice system for being found on an enclosed premises and being carried in a stolen car.
This was followed up by breaching a conditional discharge, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. Then, in 2017, came theft of a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and
