Edinburgh woman 'suffers panic attack' after hooded prowlers seen trying doors outside flat

An Edinburgh woman has been left feeling "unsafe in her own home" after two hooded prowlers were caught lurking outside her flat. The woman, who has asked not to be identified, has shared CCTV footage of the suspicious duo as they inspected doors in the communal stairwell.
The incident took place in the Meadowbank area of Edinburgh on Thursday, August 24, at around 8.20am. The camera footage shows a short white male dressed entirely in black peering into the doorway of a property.
He was joined by a blonde female who was also wearing dark-coloured clothing and black sunglasses. The concerned resident told Edinburgh Live that she feared for her own safety, as well as a number of vulnerable residents in the building.
She said: “It's a horrible situation. I had a bad anxiety attack last night just with the stress, I don't feel safe in my home anymore and I've lived here for 18 years.
“I live on my own but I have vulnerable residents in this building who I look out for. There are also people with disabilities, the elderly, and families with young children and single mothers as well as females living alone in this area.
“We should be able to feel safe in our own homes. I notified all the residents whose numbers I have just to let them know what had happened and I sent them the videos and told them to keep their doors locked or chained while in their home. The two individuals went up to the other two floors above me so I can assume they tried the handles to my neighbours properties.
"The residents in my area are vigilant now of these two individuals and will keep an eye out. Whether the police would do anything if they came back, who knows. These individuals entered our building on Thursday 24 at 8.20am. It is shocking.
