Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson felt he and his team-mates showcased their "strong mentality" after bouncing back from last weekend's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.
City restored their six-point advantage over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table thanks to Phil Foden's 10th goal of the season that came with just eight minutes left on the clock.
Pep Guardiola's side, however, were fortunate to avoid conceding a blatant penalty late on when the ball hit the arm of Rodri inside the box.
VAR assessed the incident but denied the Toffees the chance to draw level, ensuring City held on to secure three points.
With the defeat to Spurs having been City's first in the league since the a 2-0 reverse to Crystal Palace back in October, the Blues could have been forgiven for struggling to get back on track following that setback.
Nevertheless, they displayed plenty of courage to get the job done at Goodison, tightening their grip on top spot.
Ederson told City's club website : "We showed our strong mentality.
"After a defeat, it is always difficult to bounce back because it feels like we are forced to win again, so we stepped on the pitch with the mentality to try and win.
"Against Tottenham, we could've won even though we didn't, we created a lot of chances but that is part of football.
"Today I think we, overall were not the best in the first-half but in the second-half, we were much better and deserved to win in the end."
