EastEnders viewers were reduced to tears as they praised Zack Hudson for telling Whitney Dean about his HIV diagnosis. EastEnders often grapples with difficult storylines while using experts in specific issues to offer the most realistic portrayal of a topic. Shona McGarty’s Whitney, a role she has played since 2008, was recently forced to terminate her baby because of an Edwards’ Syndrome diagnosis, leaving her and Zack devastated.
After struggling to open up about the news as Whitney refused to attend the memorial of their child, Zack admitted his own diagnosis to Whitney during Monday night’s episode. “I want to be a dad, I want to be with you. I love you Whit,” Zack, who has been played by James Farrar since 2021, admitted.
When Whitney questioned why they couldn’t be together, he added: “I’ve got HIV, that’s the problem. I’m HIV positive.” His ex did not take the news well and questioned: “How did you get it? Come on? Off some random girl? Was it a bloke? “You’ve been lying to me the whole time. And the whole time I had your baby growing inside me.
I trusted you. “After everything we’ve been through I thought you were the guy. You should have told me the minute you found out." She continued: “But instead you didn’t, you did what you always do, you ran away like the coward you are.
It’s not good enough Zack. You ain’t good enough. You need to go.” Whitney feared that his positive status led to the death of their daughter, who they were going to name Peach, and kicked him out of the house.
Fans have been reacting to the episode online, with many questioning Whitney’s reaction and how she handled the difficult situation. “I'm glad Zack has finally told Whitney the truth. I wish she wasn't taking it so badly.
