Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite has reportedly been spotted trying to flog personalised merchandise at a car boot sale, alongside her beau Tom Child, 33.
The 53 year old actress, who played Melanie Owen in the BBC soap, kept it casual in a cap and shades but still caught the eye of eagle-eyed shoppers. Despite her incognito efforts, fans were quick to spot her as she tried to sell an array of items including posters of herself dressed up as a superhero. An onlooker revealed to The Sun: "It was funny because she was selling weird-looking things including posters of herself.
"She had quite a few of them.
They showed her dressed as Superwoman or something similar. She had a load of T-shirts but people just weren't interested. She had a big old industrial light and lots of blazers, too." When she wasn't busy at her own stall, Tamzin was spotted browsing other sellers' offerings.
The versatile actress, also known for her roles in New Tricks, Doctor Who, and Midsomer Murders, has previously opened up about using car boot sales to keep up with her mortgage payments.
Tamzin became a household name in 1998 as Mel Healy in EastEnders, exiting in 2002 and then making a comeback in January 2018. Her character's storyline wrapped up dramatically after a high-speed chase with Sharon Watts in November 2019, reports the Daily Star. Opening up on the Irregular B*tches podcast, she revealed: "I'm in a situation at the moment where I'm starting to sell things.
I'm about to set up a website for things that I've either created or bought and don't need anymore. Home things, clothing. "I just think this is going to be probably how I'm going to pay my mortgage and exist for a while, until our industry comes back.
