Actor David Gillespie is set to make his return to EastEnders as Duncan Boyd, 34 years on from his original stint on the soap. Duncan is going to be back on our screens for a short appearance in April where he will be reunited with former flame Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), which will span over three episodes.
He first appeared on EastEnders back in 1987 as the curate of the local Church, where he met a young Sharon, who was attempting to find peace away from the constant shouting of her parents, Dennis and Angela Watts. Sharon and Duncan struck up a romance and they were even engaged to be married before Sharon called it off when Duncan was offered a new job at a parish in Wiltshire.
Duncan makes his return to the The Square to officiate the christening of Sharon's son, Albie, and he's shocked when he realises that Albie is the child of his former fiancée, as their past relationship comes to light. On returning to EastEnders, David Gillespie said: “I have to say what a pleasure it was being back in EastEnders reviving my role as Duncan after over 30 years of leaving the show – a little strange at first but “nice strange”.The only people I knew were my old mates Letitia and Gillian but I was made to feel instantly at home by such a wonderful cast and great crew – lots of new friends.
