E4 Married At First Sight UK star feels like he's 'let people down' after 'heartbreaking' split

Married At First Sight UK star Matt Jameson has opened up on his "heartbreaking" split from Daniel McKee admitting he feels like he's let people down.
The couple made history as the E4 dating show's first ever gay couple in 2021, and went from strength to strength for two years before splitting last December. Almost ten months on from their split, Matt, 40, admits he felt like he had let fans down and felt intense pressure when it came to announcing their break up.
Speaking to The Mirror, Matt said: "It is a shame that things didn't work out for the long term, but that pressure and feeling like you're letting the community and the fans and everybody that supports you down. And that's why it was so difficult to put that [break-up] announcement out back in December last year."
He continued: "I was upset anyway because I was heartbroken. I was in love with Dan and I'll be honest with you, I didn't want us to separate but circumstances were that that needed to happen, so having that added pressure was quite intense, and even more so upsetting.
"It's like any relationship that breaks down and any relationship where you fall out or you separate, you have that hurt because either one of you doesn't want to or it’s a difficult time anyway."
Matt previously opened up about their break-up and said that they were on different pages. He told The Sun: “It’s not that Dan changed his mind, it just became clear it wasn’t going in that direction. We were on different pages and wanted different things. We are very, very different people and came together in this unconventional way, which was like a pressure cooker."
