The 15-year-old trans daughter of Dwyane Wade was officially permitted to legally change her name and gender assignment.

According to court documents obtained by People, Zaya has officially changed her birth name, as a judge signed off on the docs this week.
Zaya, who has been going by this name since 2020, was granted the legal name of Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade by the Superior Court in Los Angeles.
The court has also given her an official endorsement for her legal transition, which permits her to match her gender identity with her sex markers on documents.
The decision comes just after Zaya‘s mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, spoke out in opposition of the changes and even tried to block the change.
She had claimed that Dwayne was trying to “profit” from the change.
However, he hit back at those, saying that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Dwyane and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, have been nothing but supportive in Zaya‘s journey.
