Three nurses at DGRI are steeling themselves for a New Year’s Day challenge – but it’s nothing to do with stitches or bandages.
Laura Holland, Carole Moffat and Helen Smith will join dozens of other hardy souls for the traditional Dee Dip at Crossmichael.
The trio will brave the icy waters in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and their JustGiving page has already gained many donations.
Helen, 49, said: “It’s something we have always talked about doing for a bit of fun.
“It seemed a great idea in the middle of summer!
“We are all hoping for a reasonable temperature and no snow on the day.”
Laura, 38, added: “I had always wanted to do it as a bucket list type of thing.
“I mentioned it to Helen last New Year year and she wanted to do it too.
“Carole took a bit of convincing but we all want to do it as a team.
“We are raising money for Macmillan
Cancer Support and our JustGiving page I
started is doing well.”
The trio all work in dermatology, Laura and Helen as nurse specialists and Carole as staff nurse.
Anyone wishing to donate on Laura, Helen and Carole’s page can do so at justgiving.com/page/laura-holland-1702907590725 under Dermatology team fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Dee Dip will take place at 11am on New Year’s Day.
Everyone is welcome to join Jim McLelland and friends in the water at Crossmichael.
