His longtime colleague, and fellow rapper, Nicki Minaj follows with six nominations. GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey and Victoria Monét are set to deliver live performances for the show.
The pair overlap in the biggest categories of the evening, including album of the year, video of the year and best collaboration. Drake and Minaj are also up for best male and female hip hop artist, respectively. Winners for the BET Awards will be revealed during a live ceremony in Los Angeles.
This year’s theme is “Standing on Culture.” Shaboozey, one of the many Black country stars featured on Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter,” is currently enjoying the first Top 10 single of his career with the success of his own “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Meanwhile, Monét has been riding high off a big Grammys moment thanks to the success of “Jaguar II,” which won a Grammy in February for best R&B album.
