Drake & Josh star Josh Peck has opened up about the height of his addiction to drugs and alcohol. The 35 year old American actor soared to fame as a child star on the hit Nickelodeon comedy series but unfortunately faced a lot of insecurities that stemmed from the constant body shaming he was subjected to. And Drake has now explained that he lost weight and adopted a healthier lifestyle after changing his eating habits and getting a personal trainer - but that still didn't change his mindset. "It became clear that once I lost the weight that I was the same head in a new body," he candidly explained to People.
Stating that he thought "nothing on the outside world would make him feel whole", Josh found himself in the midst of drug binges that he described as a "buffet". "I had this illusion of becoming more confident and attractive when I was partaking. I was trying to quiet that voice that woke me up every morning and told me I wasn't enough," he said.
Josh signed himself up to a treatment programme after he got to the point of feeling scared that he was "losing it". He said he was finally able to get sober in 2008 after "breaking down the false identity" he had created for himself growing up. Josh also went on to find love and married Paige O'Brien in an idyllic Malibu ceremony in 2017.
They are now doting parents to a three year old son Max Milo. He has detailed his lie growing up in Hollywood in a new memoir called Happy People Are annoying, set for release on March 15. Josh added: "It took me a really long time to love the 15 year old version of me.
