The real-life Scot known for playing Amy Pond to a legion of Doctor Who fans, Karen Gillan comes back to UK screens on Thursday in Douglas is Cancelled.
The four-part comedy-drama about cancel culture is set in the world of television news and stars Hugh Bonneville as the eponymous national treasure, and Karen as his sidekick, Madeline. Invernesian Karen is now 36, and has packed a lot into her career so far.

Born in 1987 and brought up in Inverness, in the Scottish Highlands, Karen moved to Edinburgh when she was 16 to study acting. She went to London at 18 to study at the prestigious theatre college Itali Conti and was scouted there as a model.
Karen was first on TV in 2006, in an episode of ITV crime drama Rebus. She then went on to appear in comedy sketch series The Kevin Bishop Show for two years.
She was cast in the role of Doctor Who companion Amy Pond in May 2009, playing alongside Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. She appeared in the sixth series in 2011 and the first five episodes of the seventh series in 2012, after which her character and Rory Williams (portrayed by Arthur Darvill) left the series.
After a theatre stint and Scottish film Not Another Happy Ending in 2012, Karen moved to the US for theatre work. She appeared in Charlie Brooker's police spoof A Touch of Cloth and then landed the lead role in 2013 horror hit Oculus.
