A double rainbow appeared in the sky over Buckingham Palace Thursday (September 8) before news broke that Queen Elizabeth tragically died.
The Queen passed away at the age of 96. The royal was placed under medical supervision and family members including Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry rushed to be with her at Balmoral in Scotland.

The double rainbow was noticed by crowds who flocked to Buckingham Palace to await news about the iconic ruler’s health.
The Palace confirmed the Queen’s death on Twitter. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” they wrote.
Some on social media took the photos of the double rainbow as a sign of peace amidst the loss.
