A homeowner got a shock after a 'runaway pony' was seen wandering his driveway on a quiet cul-de-sac in Stockport in the dead of night.
One resident on the street in Davenport woke this morning (Tuesday) to a notification on his doorbell camera about movement outside his home shortly before 4:30am.
When he looked back at the footage he was stunned to see a lone, unaccompanied animal, he believes to be a pony, had wandered onto his driveway.
Colin, 72, said: "I check my camera every morning to make sure nothing happened, and the rest is history! The only thing that had happened was that!
"It's not every day you see a horse or pony walking around your drive. It makes a change from foxes or cats or scallywags hanging around.
"It went right round one side of my car, up to my front door, round the other side of the car then just trotted off. It wasn't in a hurry or anything. Maybe it just wanted to meet its new neigh-bour."
Neighbour Paul, 70, said: "Colin came over and asked me if my camera had caught it but it hadn't as it didn't come onto my drive. But I couldn't believe it when I saw it.
"I was really surprised and shocked. It doesn't seem like any others have seen it. I posted it in a local Facebook group to see if anyone had lost it but no one has come forward or anything. Very strange!"
Many locals on Facebook saw the funny side. One said: "What a night-mare. Maybe he was looking for the hair salon." Another said: "No horsing about now." Whilst a third said: "No pumpkin or mice around?"
