At the international box office, the movie added another $10.8 million for a global tally of $30 million. Those ticket sales indicate that behind-the-scenes scandals didn’t ding interest in the film, which co-stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. All the talk about Spitgate, awkward press conferences and a seemingly endless stream of tabloid fodder may have even boosted awareness. (Well, that, and the overwhelming desire to watch the world-famous pop star in his first major film role.) Whatever the reason that brought audiences to theaters, it’s an impressive debut for the $35 million-budgeted “Don’t Worry Darling.”

"Don't Worry Darling" is garnering heaps of press, but none of it actually surrounds the film.  In a now viral video, actor Harry Styles is seen taking his seat next to co-star Chris Pine for a screening of the movie on Monday at the Venice Film Festival. The awkward video shows Styles not making eye contact with either Pine or Olivia Wilde, his director and girlfriend, as he sits down.  As Styles turns to sit, you see Pine look down at his pants, pause, and then guffaw at whatever just transpired.  Chris Pine was sandwiched between Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles during the film's screening.

“Don’t Worry Darling” is a mixture of “The Stepford Wives” and “Get Out” is both accurate and deeply misleading. It’s accurate because Olivia Wilde’s satiric and somewhat frantic psychological thriller does borrow from films like “Stepford,” where an idealized community is one in which the women are dolls designed for male satisfaction, and “Get Out,” which uses horror trappings to grapple with timely issues of power and privilege.
