Don Lemon is returning to the media landscape, with a new media company and show on X. Lemon announced the news on X (fka Twitter) Tuesday morning
“I’ve heard you …and I am back, bigger, bolder, freer!,” he wrote. “My new media company’s first project is The Don Lemon Show. It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, streaming on the platforms where the conversations are happening. And you’ll find it first on X, the biggest space for free space in the world. I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without the hall monitors. This is just the beginning so stay tuned.”
The move comes nine months after Lemon was let go from CNN after a divisive several months and 17 years with the network as one of its most recognizable stars.
He most recently had co-hosted CNN’s revamped Morning Show with Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, where there had been reports of tension between him and Collins as well as disappointing ratings. There also was a well-publicized on-air tiff when he accused Collins of “interrupting” him during a broadcast.
His CNN ouster came a little over two months after he apologized for on-air comments about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley being past her prime. Chris Licht, then chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, called Lemon‘s comments on women “unacceptable.” He took several days off the show before apologizing and agreeing to participate in formal training.
“CNN and Don have parted ways,” Licht said in a statement at the time. “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
