This Christmas weekend was one for the record books for the NFL, which boasted several of its most-watched games in decades.
The Miami Dolphins eked out a victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve, drawing 31.5M viewers for Fox. That’s the most-watched game of the week, and it’s actually the network’s best performance for America’s Game of the Week since 1995.
The Dolphins-Cowboys matchup also up 13% over last year’s Week 16 audience to become one of the most-watched games of the season.
On Christmas Day, CBS and Nickelodeon set a record, delivering the the most-watched NFL Christmas Day game since 1989 with 29.2M people tuning in for the Raiders-Chiefs. The audience was up 29% versus last year’s game.
In fact, the Raiders’ win is now the most-watched Christmas Day program ever on CBS with more than 28M tuning in on the broadcast network alone.
In third place was ESPN/ABC’s Christmas night telecast of the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. That tallied 27M viewers, marking the second most-watched Monday Night Football game in 27 years, behind only one other game from this season, the Eagles-Chiefs in Week 11.
Prime Video was also back up this week, after seeing a dip in viewership the week prior. Kicking off the weekend on Thursday, the streamer’s Saints-Rams telecast drew just over 10M viewers, marking a 23% increase over the year before.

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music A gold or platinum record doesn’t just happen: Even if an album, single or EP passes 500,000 (gold) or 1,000,000 (platinum) sales or their streaming-age equivalent, it must be certified by the Recording Industry Association of America, which is a whole process that involves submissions and research and certification and other bureaucratic official-ness.
