A dog walker was mauled to death by her own giant pit bull when walking eight pets, it's been claimed.
Natasha Johnston endured horrendous injuries from "multiple penetrating bites" during the vicious attack in Surrey in January. It was previously reported that the dog responsible for the 28-year-old's death was an American Bully XL. Following an investigation, the pet was destroyed.
However, now veterinary surgeon Dr Alison Robson - an expert court witness who examined Natasha's cause of death - has said that her dog Stan was a pit bull, which is one of four breeds banned in the UK by the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.
Months earlier, Natasha had reportedly rescued Stan after his owners planned to put him down because he bit one of their kids. A friend also said the dog bit Natasha twice in the days leading up to the tragic attack, reports the Mirror.
Her pal Delia Lewis, whose own dog was among the pack that day, told the Daily Mail: "She felt Stan hadn't been trained and with the correct care and affection he'd be fine. Her boyfriend said it wasn't a good idea and, having seen how troublesome Stan could be, my response was, 'Are you sure?'
"But she loved dogs with a passion and she was still grieving for her black staffy, Missy, who had recently died, so she didn't take our advice." According to the newspaper, Natasha sent a picture of herself with Stan four days after rescuing him. The image shows her cuddled up to the creature while wearing a fluffy onesie, as he snoozes in her arms. She sent it alongside the message: "Back to the sofa! I was ordered back to bed for a while!"
