Disney revealed details about the upcoming Haunted Mansion remake movie during the D23 Expo on Friday (September 9), including the star-studded cast!
The upcoming film is based on the beloved ride at Disneyland and Justin Simien is directing the film.
“There was something about that ride that I felt was there in the script,” Simien said at the event (via Variety). “I wanted to be sure all the Easter Eggs are there because I’m a nerd.”
He added, “I used to work here! I actually worked at Disneyland, y’all. It was the best summer job I ever had. I used to ride the Haunted Mansion on breaks.”
Jared Leto and Winona Ryder are among the actors confirmed to be making cameos alongside the main cast, which includes Rosario Dawson and Owen Wilson.
Leto wasn’t at D23 as he’s in New York for fashion week right now. You can see some recent candids of him in the gallery!

Variety reports that the movie follows Rosario‘s character Gabbie, a single mom with a nine-year-old son. Looking to start a new life, Gabbie buys a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans. When they discover the mansion is haunted, Gabbie resorts to hiring a paranormal tour guide (Lakeith Stanfield), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), a priest (Wilson) and a historian (Danny DeVito) to help exorcise her newly bought mansion.
