Dear Class of 2020 Speech

The young cast of Netflix’s sci-fi, coming of age series Stranger Things is standing in solidarity against systemic racism and police brutality. In a series of images circulated across social media by devoted fans, a number of the stars have shown their support for the Black Lives Matter movement, attending a number of protests across the nation from Los Angeles to the site of the series’ filming in Atlanta.

Lady Gaga had some impassioned words for graduates during YouTube's virtual Dear Class of 2020 commencement celebration on Sunday. Gaga began by saying she recorded a different commencement speech that "reflected the shared experience" with COVID-19 that the class of 2020 has had.

Lady Gaga addressed the class of 2020 amid this quarantine as well as during the George Floyd protests in a re-recorded speech and her words were very powerful. The singer stressed that the graduates are watching a ‘pivotal moment’ in the history of the country.

The YouTube Originals special, airing on Sunday, features both Barack andMichelle Obama as commencement speakers. The pair kicked things off with a joint message to students early on in the program.

“Congratulations to the class of 2020. You have arrived”, proclaimed Beyonce, as she kicked off a powerful commencement speech for the event from her home. Joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Ciara, and The Obamas, Beyonce talked to the young men and women who were not afforded the chance to grab their diploma in front of huge crowd, due to the coronavirus crisis.
